18 October 2011- P&O Maritime recently entered an agreement to support the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) amphibious capability during the Australian cyclone season.
In August 2010 P&O Maritime Services were successful in securing a contract for the provision of towage services to DP World at the Port of Sokhna, Egypt. Service provision for this contract was enabled through the acquisition and mobilisation of two tugs from Spain.
On 30 September 2010 P&O Maritime Services (UK) acquired a 50% shareholding in a United Kingdom incorporated joint venture with the School of Ocean Sciences in the University of Wales, Bangor. Through this joint venture, known as P&O Maritime Ocean Services, P&O Maritime Services will have joint ownership of the research vessel Prince Madog and will charter the vessel to the University and third party clients. Prince Madog will be operated from Menai in north west Wales and is a welcome addition to P&O Maritime Services' european science vessel fleet.
On December 11 2009 P&O Maritime Services completed the acquisition of 70% of the shares in the Dos Santos Group Bulk Barging business, a river navigation business based in Asuncion, Paraguay. This has been the culmination of 12 months of discussion and negotiation and a full due diligence process.
